Start where you are, dreaming of a van and the age old question….

Hi there!  I have been thinking for quite a while about my very first blog post.  Actually, I have been putting it off for months because I just don’t know where to start.  And then it occurred to me- I have always loved the famous Arthur Ashe quote “start where you are, use what you have, do what you can”.  So here we are.  And here I am-about three years into this business, living and learning and loving every minute of it.

One of the most common questions people ask me when I tell them that I am a home stager (besides the incredulous “where do you keep all that stuff?”. See, I own all of my own inventory, just a ton of furniture, but that is another story for another day) is “how did you get into that?”  Which, if you think about it, is just really a nice way of asking “WHY did you get into that?”  And honestly, I don’t have a great answer for that question.  After graduating from college, I found myself as just another crop in a cubicle farm and not to be too dramatic here, but it was soul crushing.  And the idea of spending the majority of my life sitting in traffic and basking in the glow of a neon computer screen was enough to make me…well, in lieu of more dramatics, let’s just say it was enough to make me consider some alternatives.

Literally on a whim (and immediately following an HGTV binge) I decided I would be a home stager.  And I have never looked back.  I got an accreditation ( I am an accredited staging professional and a member of the International Association of Home Staging Professionals), started a website, got some business cards and just like that Premiere Home Staging was born.  Fast forward a few years,  and I have staged over 50 houses and more than $16 million (Yes, MILLION) in real estate.  I own enough furniture to fill approximately 15 vacant 2,000 sq. foot houses ( I promise, stay tuned for the details on that later) and my business has grown to the point where I recently purchased my own van.  What girl hasn’t always dreamed of owning her very own commercial van?!

Pretty sweet, right? Just needs some curtains in the windows…

So there you have it- the backstory of Premiere Home Staging.  Please keep checking in for my random thoughts, some great before and after photos of my work and miscellaneous adventures in home staging.  Oh, and pictures of my dog because I have done lots of research and I assure you, she is the cutest dog in the whole world.

This is Millie Pearl. I told you she was amazingly cute. I wouldn't lie to you.

(No matter how much I ask her, however, she will not answer the age old question how much is that puppy in the window.  I guess I will never know).
